OUR MISSION

Time is money and money is time. In a 9-to-5 world that yearns for more time freedom, we want to share some tools and tactics to think differently about trading and finances.

We believe trading discipline = financial freedom = time freedom.

OUR PHILOSOPHY

Simplify trading. Expose previously inaccessible trading tools.

Trading is a difficult game. It's why most folks accept the annual returns (or lack thereof) from index funds. The proliferation of trading-related data and tech, however, has created the potential to empower retail traders. The trouble is most retail traders don't know the data and tech exists, and even if they do, don't know how to properly utilize its features (i.e., the experience required to cut through the noise). VTE provides this education so that you can make more informed trading decisions per your own risk profile and goals.

Top-tier education and expertise surrounding the data that interprets price action

Technical Analysis

Technical analysis uses historical price and volume action to create a probabilistic view of the future, primarily translating human psychology around price (and more recently math and trading algorithms based on human psychology) into recognizable chart patterns and indicators. Technical analysis is therefore a study of the past that may help forecast the future.

There are thousands of different patterns and indicators, but only a select few we focus on at VTE based on tens of thousands of hours of market evaluation as well as our founder's expertise as a Chartered Market Technician (CMT) for technical analysis.

Flow Analysis

Every day 30-40 million options trades take place in the US equities market. These trades either (a) speculate a stock's future price or volatility or (b) hedge against a stock's future price or volatility. Flow analysis is the real-time parsing of these options trades to find how "smart money" may be positioning itself, and what that might mean for the future price and volatility of the underlying stock.

Our founder's prior engagements in investment banking, private equity, and data-driven marketing have been applied towards daily, surgical evaluation of flow.

Liquidity Analysis

Price targets - often projected from technical and flow analysis - are critical, but most traders often ignore the path required to realize these targets. First level thinking is that supply and demand determine price. Second level thinking is that smooth price movement is better for price stability than erratic price movement. Liquidity analysis helps determine whether the movement may be smooth or erratic, and thereby whether the targets are more or less likely to be achieved.

Discoveries in this domain are happening real-time, and our founder has the required higher-level math background to follow along and simplify insights.

About

Hey there!

I'm Vivek Thakkar, and I breathe markets.

I recently became a dad to my year old son and the happiest little fellow on Earth - Vizhaan - whose presence only accelerated my pursuit of time and financial freedom. While the pursuit originally led to me to trading, which in my opinion is the most frictionless way to make money (all you need is a WiFi connection, a computer, and some initial funds), it has since compelled me to launch VTE to share my insights.

Trading - albeit a tough game - can be fruitful if one (a) is disciplined and (b) has a thesis around critical price and volatility drivers. As a Chartered Market Technician, I've centered my thesis around technical, flow, and liquidity analysis, major facets of which I feel are hidden from the general public.

Outside of "work", I enjoy spending time with my wife and son; playing, watching, and gambling sports; philosophical discussions around existence; and digesting the content of stand up comedians - the most brilliant minds of our time.

I look forward to discussing all the above and welcoming you to the VTE community. Cheers!
